UPM ProFi celebrates its 10th anniversary at GaLaBau fair 2016

(UPM, Lahti, 14 September 2016 at 10:00 EET) – UPM ProFi celebrates 10 years of design decking. In 2007 a new composite material was created by Finnish scientists that offered a fresh alternative to landscapers. The 2017 celebrations include revisiting decks from the past, new design collaborations that showcase the future of outdoor living, a true or false myth challenge, and new additions to UPM ProFi’s total deck system.

Throughout 2017 UPM ProFi will launch a range of accessories and improvements that will enhance both the installation as well as the performance of the renowned composite decking range.

Since 2007 UPM has enjoyed several high profile design collaborations: Shigeru Ban with the Artek Pavillion, the New York Metal Shutters apartments and innovative temporary housing following the Tsunami in Japan, Tobias Rehberger’s Golden Lion winning installation at the Venice Biennale, and Teemu Kurkela’s award winning design for Finland’s World Expo pavilion.

In 2017, UPM ProFi is celebrating its 10th anniversary by building on both its design and performance heritages with three distinct elements.

- Based on 10 years of real deck experience and technical development, we will demonstrate how to distinguish between the good, the bad and the ugly in composite decking. During these years UPM ProFi Deck has quickly grown to be one of Europe’s leading brands in the industry, says Mr. Edward Robinson, Director, UPM Biocomposites.

UPM ProFi 10 year celebrations:

- Firstly, UPM ProFi is seeking to revisit decks installed during the last ten years. UPM ProFi decks have been installed throughout Europe in all types of environment: from the Mediterranean coast to Lapland, from mountain resorts to city centres.

- Secondly, a new set of collaborations with leading architect and landscape practices is being organised to showcase the future of outdoor living design.

- Thirdly, UPM ProFi is launching its own True or False Challenge. Over the past ten years, many low performance WPC deck products, both solid and hollow, have been launched onto the market and failed.

UPM ProFi will utilise the learnings of the anniversary campaign to further improve its product performance properties.

Visitors to Galabau are invited to share the heritage and look into the future of decking, where design meets performance: UPM ProFi.
