UPM ProFi composite is a unique material that combines the best characteristics of wood fibres and plastic. Manufactured mainly from recycled material, the composite has proven to be tough and humidity resistant. 

The principle raw material for UPM ProFi is manufacturing surplus from UPM's labelstock production; self-adhesive label materials made of paper and plastic. The composite can be disposed of by incineration or recycled back into the production process.  

UPM started the production of its wood plastic composite in spring 2007 in Lahti, Finland. In 2009, a new factory started operations in Bruchsal, Germany. 

UPM ProFi Deck, the first UPM ProFi product on the market, is durable and easy to maintain. It is ideal for terraces, patios and walkways, whether at home or in restaurants, schools, parks or other public areas. 

In spring 2009, two new UPM ProFi products were launched together with Artek. Floor by UPM ProFi for exhibitions & events, and the 10-UNIT SYSTEM furniture range, designed by Shigeru Ban, were both presented at Milan Design Exhibition 2009.
