
1. What is the main raw material for UPM ProFi?
UPM ProFi is manufactured from recycled material. The principle raw material for the wood plastic composite is self-adhesive label materials made of paper and plastic, which is surplus from UPM's label stock production. Some plastic is added to improve product properties.
2. Does UPM ProFi contain any harmful chemicals?No, UPM ProFi does not contain any harmful chemicals.
3. How much recycled material does Floor contain?Recycled raw material is one of the cornerstones of UPM ProFi products. The proportion of the recycled paper and plastic varies depending on the product application, being always more than 50%.
4. How much does Floor by UPM ProFi weigh? Floor tile weighs just under 2kg each (1.93 kg), and the X-clip 28g.
5. What are the measures of Floor?Floor by UPM ProFi tiles are of 40 x 40 cm in size. The thickness of a tile is 2.8cm.
6. Do I need special tools to work with Floor?Installation as well as disassembly is especially fast and simple. No need for special tools.
However, if you want to reshape the tile, it is possible with some basic methods, like screwing, sawing and drilling.
7. Can I mount lights inside Floor?Yes. Please notice the following details:
- Choose the kind of lamp that creates only a little heat
- Drill the holes in the centre of tiles carefully, without braking its structure
- Choose the smallest possible lamp, eg. LED light. The light must be less thick than 2.8cm.
- Do not install the lamp between the tiles
8. Can Floor be used indoors?Yes. The material does not create any harmful emissions. However, the practical issues like cleaning with water should be considered since there is no sealing between the individual tiles.
9. What is the fire classification of Floor? Floor fulfils the fire class E. Behaviour in fire is similar to untreated wood though it generates very little smoke. UPM ProFi burns calmly and creates no toxic fumes. It does not spread fire sparks or droplets.
10. How do I dispose of Floor? Floor can be disposed with ordinary household waste or turned to energy at waste incineration plants together with other wastes.
11. Can you paint Floor? Yes, but we do not recommend it. By painting UPM ProFi, the natural characteristic will change and it becomes slippery.
12. How can you clean Floor?The cleaning is very easy - in most cases brushing with warm water is enough. Neutral cleaning agents can be added to the water. Power pressure washing at a pressure not exceeding 100 bar and the jet nozzle not applied closer than 30 cm will improve the result. It is also recommended to clean stains promptly.
13. How much weight does Floor carry?Floor should be installed on an even and weight carrying surface. It is not a structural product.
14. Where you can buy the product?Floor by UPM ProFi will be launched at few selected European markets this year. Distributor selection is under negotiation. Floor will be available for consumers through DIY stores. For projects please contact UPM ProFi sales.
